Sometime ago, Nielsen published a report that listed out the top 20 Android apps used by women. We thought we’d bundle them up and put them here in one place for your ease of use.
1. Android Market
Since the time that Nielsen published this report, Google went ahead and killed Android Market. It’s now called the Google Play. The good news is that interface remains the same. This app is installed by default on all Android phones and is your gateway to downloading the best of paid and free apps. Best part? Over the air installations once you’ve registered for an account.
2. Facebook for Android
Bring all the action from your Facebook profile right to your smartphone. This official Facebook app allows you to do almost anything that you usually do with the browser on your computer. Upload photographs, share updates with friends, comment on what they’re up to. The app also syncs your Facebook contacts with your Android phone.
3. Gmail
Bring the power of Gmail to your phone, this app gives you all the functionality of Gmail in the palm of your hand. Push notifications make sure that emails are delivered to in real-time. The ability to add multiple accounts makes sure that you don’t have to keep switching between them to check emails.
4. Google Maps
Once you’ve got this app working, you can pretty much forget about needing to use paper maps ever again. You can let that GPS system go too because this app provides voice-guided navigation. Get users ratings and recommendations for places on the map. With Latitude, stay on the grid and know where your friends are on the map.
5. Google Search
Works just as expected. Auto suggestions and everything!
6. YouTube
Play videos from YouTube on your phone through this official app instead of the browser. The interface has been completely revamped to offer a more seamless experience. No matter how smart mobile browsers get — they can never match up to a custom designed application. So if you’re the sort who’s constantly YouTubeing, this makes things easier.
7. Advanced Task Killer Free
Is your Android slowing down to a grind? Need to take control of applications that are running? This application is like the task manager that you get with Windows. You can use it to view all the running applications and stop the ones that you don’t need at the moment — leaving your phone with more memory space and computing power to run the applications that you need to use.
8. Angry Birds
Who needs to give an introduction to this one? Take hold of those angry, angry birds and hurl them towards the smiley pigs to win points and move to the next level. Simple yet surprisingly addictive game.
9. Pandora Radio
This app creates personalized radio stations for the music lover in you. Search for your favorite artist or band and leave the rest to Pandora. It not only creates playlists of the artist that you punched in but also adds similar music that you may like. What’s not to like?

Turn your mobile phone into a Microsoft Office powerhouse with this multiple award winning app. Need to make changes to that spreadsheet on the go? Need to add or remove slides from a presentation? 13. Twitter
The official app from Twitter is a breeze to use, no wonder the women love it. The interface is clean, notifications are delivered without any lag, and the pull-to-refresh gesture needed to refresh tweets is seriously cool. All this coupled with the ability to switch accounts with one touch makes this one of the best applications for using Twitter.
14. Amazon AppStore
An alternative to Android Market, the Amazon AppStore allows Android users to buy apps using Amazon’s 1-Click payment technology. It also allows users to test drive apps on a simulated device before they install it on their own device. But wait, here’s the best part — Amazon offers the users of its AppStore one paid app for free every day!
15. Talk — Text to Voice
Can’t be bothered with scrolling through your phone to read that article you need to? No problem, have your phone read it to you! All you need to do is copy and paste the text that you need read into the application. Supports many languages apart from English.

18. Angry Birds Rio
The second installment of the world’s most favorite Android game is back. This time the birds have been kidnapped and sent to Rio de Janeiro, which of course makes the birds much angrier than before. Featuring six new episodes with 180 different levels! Also, the game has boss fights now, making it that much more challenging.
19. Adobe Reader
Don’t get stranded with a PDF document on your smartphone and nothing to open it with. The official reader from Adobe lets you do more than just open and read PDF files. With Adobe reader, you can search the PDF, use bookmarks to jump to a section directly, select and copy text from within the PDF. Considering how popular the format is, you’ll probably need a reader, and this is the best one out there.
20. Google+
This is the wildcard on the list. According to reports, Google+ users are almost all male, but apparently, there are a lot of women who use it to connect and network with their contacts too. The most amazing thing about this app has got to be Hangouts, which allows you to video chat with up to 9 friends on the go. Other features include instant messenger, push notifications and photo and video sharing.
So there you have it. What do you think? Does the list seem right? Which Android apps do you love apart from there, women?
