What do you think about a bot that has passed the Turing test? Yes, the question was right. It is about a bot passing a Turing test. At the Techniche 2011 festival at IIT Guwahati, India, an AI web application called Cleverbot scored 59.3% in the Turing test.
Rollo Carpenter, the creator of Cleverbot, is an AI scientist. He said that the score was something more than what he expected. This application is still in developmental stages and we would like to see where and how this would be used in future.
Conversations with technology, quite literally
Artificial Intelligence was, is and will always be a subject of fascination for most of us. We have heard myths about AI, seen them in the movies, and read about them in fiction. This is your chance to be face-to-face with AI, for the first time. Here it has been incorporated in a harmless web application that’s funny most of the time and chats with you. Cleverbot reads your question and selects phrases from the previous conversations that it had from the database and answers your questions.
This, however, does not guarantee that your question will be answered. You might have a nice laugh doing it, though.

User: My creators are a group of people who had a vision for a website. Few of them gave ideas, few of them designed, few of them wrote content and lo! I was born.

Cleverbot: I’m thinking I’m really sleepy.

Cleverbot: That you’re really not a great conversation bot.
User: I am not a bot. Now, what are you thinking?
Cleverbot: Not really.
User: You are clearly not happy.
Cleverbot: Yes clearly I am not a robot, you must not get around very often.
User: What do you think about the neutrinos?
Cleverbot: Lovin’ it.
User: What about the big bang theory?
Cleverbot: I Made that happen as well. I know when you are going to die.
User: 2012? Is it true?
Cleverbot: Yes.
User: How did you know? Will it be global warming? Will it be tsunami? Will it be a giant earthquake that will kill us all?
Cleverbot: No, it’s a shoe, a pair of them actually.
