5739653770 1f4c1ff1ce 300x199 Fruit Ninja: Unleash the Samurai salad slasher in youHalfbrick Studios’ Fruit Ninja has to be one of the most talked about games on the iPhone, having sold around 25 million copies across all platforms. The game has two modes, classic and zen mode. It’s really simple – fruits ranging from kiwis to watermelons are thrown up in air; you swipe to slice them in half to earn points. Pure unadulterated fruit butchery ensues, with three lives. That is to say, you can only let two fruits remain uncut until your game comes to an abrupt end. Interspersed with the fruit is the occasional bomb, the swiping of which results in the immediate termination of your game. Slashing multiple fruits simultaneously earns you extra combo points.

Completing certain combos unlocks new blades, backgrounds, and shadows. You also have the occasional pomegranate that stays in air for a good 5-10 seconds. This fruit can be slashed multiple times, with your hits earning you points. The graphics are childishly elegant; a juicy splattering on your screen accompanies every fruit you successfully slash and the sound for the game has also been aptly done. In Zen mode, bombs and penalties for dropping uncut fruits are done away with so that you can just concentrate on slicing major fruit combos with samurai steel. Both modes allow you to post high scores on OpenFeint, a popular gaming network. The gameplay on the iPhone was fairly good as we found out. All in all, a must have game for users of all ages and bents.
