Ever wanted your very own Remote Controlled aircraft? Of course the overwhelming answer is a big yes ever since you remember. But this craft called the Quadshot is unique – it can fly like a plane as well as hover like a helicopter. Oh, correction – it’s infact a quadrocopter and takes off vertically, hovers and flies in any direction, just like a mini Apache assault chopper. And in the flip of a switch, it transforms into a plane and swoops around on your command.
Developed by a talented group of engineers from Santa Cruz, the Quadshot is an amazing combination of gyroscopes and accelerometers controlled by tweakable open source software. The ‘flying wing’ design of the Quadshot is made up of EPP foam and carbon fibre. This futuristic UAV prototype is one-meter long with four motors attached in an asymmetrical pattern, allowing it to hover vertically like a helicopter and also swoop through the air. In fact it can fly perfectly like a fixed-wing plane and when its time to land, it comes to the heli mode and lands vertically. A major attaction is the camera mount which lets amateur video enthusiasts record amazing aerial videos in HD.
Once Quadshot hits the store shelves, you can have the basic model starting at US$ 400 and the more advanced and sophisticated ‘Kopi Luwak’ for US$ 2000. Tempting at this price and the thought about the hours of fun you can have with your very own camera-fitted, ‘private eye’ In the sky!
