101-in-1 Games is certainly very much reminiscent of the Game Boy all-in-one games cartridges. Perhaps the most all-inclusive app available, there is a huge lineup of games on offer. Initially the player is given round about a dozen games to play and it is through the successful completion of these that a player may unlock additional games. Once a game is completed a certain number of points are credited to the players’ accounts and it is using these points that the unlocked games are accessed.
The games range from catching Sushi with a stick to a simple dart throwing challenge. Each game can be played by flicks/taps of the finger on the touchscreen of an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. Most games are slightly old school in that the gameplay is simplistic. The games generally run fairly smooth and some are not as easy as they seem. The games have target scores and some of these targets are set pretty high (perhaps to challenge and engage the user). In addition to this, some of the games are timed, making them harder to complete.
A suggestion to the good people at Nordcurrent (the game’s developer) would be to include a worldwide scoreboard in its next installment. As earlier stated, the game seems far more geared towards the younger audiences (8-16), both in terms of gameplay and design. However, out of the plethora of games, there are bound to be at least a couple that may catch the interest of adult users as well. A definite must-have app for the kids out there, personally I would ask adults or even advanced gamers to give this one a miss!
