Everyone is talking about the new and exciting features of Windows 8. There are so many of them in Windows 8 that have left us surprised. What are your favorite new features in Windows 8? Here’s our pick of the lot. These are the ones that stand out the most.
Improvements to Windows Defender
There’s been a huge improvement to Windows Defender in Windows 8. Malicious programs have been a pain for many users and this time Windows Defender will do a better job in safeguarding your computer from malware. There have been many improvements in the way Windows Defender functions but this one is the best improvement in our opinion. Windows Defender is now better equipped to save your system from various bots, malware, viruses, and other such harmful programs.
No more annoying ‘Please Restart’ messages
The earlier operating systems from Microsoft were annoying in a way. An important update would be installed on your computer and there would be a message on the screen that wanted you to restart the computer to finish the installation process. It’s a really annoying feature that reminds people that they still haven’t restarted the computer. This is now made a little less annoying in Windows 8. No constant reminders would be seen in Windows 8 like you used to get in Windows 7.
Improved Security
Picture passwords are something new to most of us. This is a new way of logging in that’s introduced in Windows 8. Here, you would be required to choose a picture and use a set of gestures on the picture. And every time you need to login to use your computer, you need to repeat the gestures. Swipe gestures were used in Android phones. But having gestures on pictures is something new and interesting and not boring unlike the swiping in Android phones.
Refresh is not just refresh anymore
In the earlier operating systems, Refresh meant something else and it’s totally different in Windows 8. Refresh is a new feature that allows you to install the operating system again. This feature makes sure that your data is safe when the reinstallation of the operating system is underway. People who have been complaining about the backup and restore feature in the earlier operating systems will have a surprise in Windows 8 and that is Refresh.
Improved Task Manager
Task Manager gets better in Windows 8. So better that it might surprise you for a moment. A Resource Manager has been included in Task Manager and this new feature allows you to understand where the resources of your computer are being used exactly. Data is presented to you in detail. Though you might take some time to understand what it is actually trying to tell you, once you get used to the new feature, it will be your favorite soon enough.
These are some of our favorite features in Windows 8. What do you think? Do you agree? What are your favorite features? Let us know.
