Among the top five people with the highest number of followers on Twitter, four are women. Five, if you count Justin Bieber as a woman. Well, the first time I heard him, I thought he was a girl. You know where this is going, right?

Here’s our list (in no particular order) of the funniest women on Twitter.

Shari VanderWerf

Shari VanderWerf is a comedian from Los Angeles who’s been doing stand-up for a long time. She was funny even before it was cool to be funny on Twitter. You cannot usually put a genre to her Tweets.

She may tweet about her grandmother or make fun of Facebook. But her witty and sarcastic Tweets will make you laugh and sometimes even think.

Sarah Silverman

Who doesn’t know Sarah Silverman, right? She usually tweets about people from the entertainment industry. For a dose of sarcasm and a bit of self depreciating and religion-based humor, you must follow her. She is also known for her below-the-belt jokes on Twitter and she makes you hate her guts with her Tweets.

Kelly Oxford

Kelly Oxford was a blogger first, and then came along Twitter. Twitter brought in more fame than her blog which is not active anymore. Kelly Oxford is funny and is on TIME’s list of 140 people you must follow on Twitter.

Oh, by the way last December, Kelly Oxford was offered a deal to write for a sitcom by NBC.

Pax Paxochka

She is neither a celebrity, nor a comedian. I’m not too sure if she’s a writer either. But she is funny as hell. She is a Russian who has a great sense of humor. We don’t know much about her life in general, but I believe Pax Paxochka is her real name.

She usually tweets about people on Twitter and life in general. Of course, there’s humor in almost every tweet she posts.

Kirsten J. Ross

Kirsten J. Ross is from Canada and she wears many hats. According to her blog, she was a bartender, a reporter, photographer, and a Copy Writer. The last will give you an idea that she’s be doing a great job on Twitter. You’re right.

She isn’t one of those people who have thousands of followers but she would never disappoint you with her tweets. I can promise you that.

Ruth Akers

Ruth is beautiful (don’t listen to her, she calls herself fat) and funny. Deadly combination, isn’t it? A mom of four kids, who she also tweets about a lot. She had her first kid when she was 20 years old. She’s a natural writer who also writes for The Huffington Post.

She usually tweets about her kids, and fools around her. Fill your timeline with loads of sarcasm, wit and hard-hitting truth by following her.

Fussy Saffa

The term Saffa is usually used to refer to South African settlers. She has a great sense of humor (she lives in the UK). Her tweets are a little different when compared to the others on this list. But that’s maybe because she lives in the United Kingdom and those guys are real funny!

She’s a fan of Joshua Homme and calls herself Mrs. Joshua Homme.

Lafix

She is known to say something random and funny, and witty and sarcastic usually. She has around 12 thousand followers who are following her for the same reason. She is one of the many funny people on Twitter who have been featured on witstream.com.

We don’t know her name and her actual identity, but who needs all that on Twitter, right?

Megan Amram

She seems older but she’s just 23! She is one of the funniest people on Twitter. You’d be surprised if we tell you that she wrote for the 83rd Annual Academy awards (Oscars, in short)! She’s a comedy writer who moved to LA right after she graduated from college.

She delivers the best of the punches on Twitter with just 140 characters. Sarcastically, she pulls your legs and gives you advice in a funny way!

Mindy Kaling

You know her as Kelly Kapoor from The Office. Now here’s a chance to know her in her Twitter life. Mindy Kaling is a writer, a director, an actor, and a producer. On Twitter, she is intelligent than the character she plays on the famous show.

She usually tweets (read: jokes) about celebrities and also gives away some gossip for free to her followers. A must follow celebrity who will keep you entertained on Twitter!
