Being a relatively new publication, we’re always looking to expand our talent pool of writers and contributors. Though, before you send us an email, here’s what we’re looking for in specific.
A flair for writing
Though we run the occasional satire and opinion to amuse ourselves, on most days, our focus remains on delivering stories that empower our readers. Something that helps them do new things with technology that they couldn’t before or solves existing problems that they face. An easily read writing style is what we’re looking for, and as Nathaniel Hawthorne noted, “Easy reading is damn hard writing.” A sense of humor is appreciated too.
Love for all things tech
We believe that until you love something, you can’t write about it with any level of conviction. Doesn’t matter what your interest within technology — mobiles, social media, productivity apps, cloud computing, tech startups, gaming, iOS, Android, privacy — if you can write about it with a point of view, we’d love to hear from you. If you’d like to contribute a guest post, we’d be more than happy to run it too.
Ability to deliver on a schedule
For our regular contributors, people who have committed to the website and have a desire to build their own brand online with us, we expect regular contributions. It helps us device an editorial plan for the website. The schedule itself is not rigid and is discussed between the author and the editor. It does’t matter if the commitment is for one story per week or four stories per week — what we ask it to stick to deliver on what has been committed.
Being an online influencer
We don’t have a million fans on Facebook or a hundred thousand followers on Twitter (yet), so in most cases, we promote the content with all the channels available to us. Authors are expected to have the ability to market their stories online after they’ve written them. This of course means that your being an online influencer is a big, big plus. If you’re not enthusiastic about sharing what you write, who would?
The specifics
The story length that we’re usually happy running is between 600-800 words. We don’t want to bore our readers with anything longer than that, at the same time neither do we want to publish stories which seem half baked.
If you’re interested in contributing a guest post, just email us your story with a short bio and links to your online profiles.
